IPTV Fugitive Caught by Police and Sentenced to 5 Years

An IPTV fugitive who fled the UK to avoid trial for IPTV reselling, was arrested and sentenced to 5 years in prison for copyright crimes.

Mark Brockley’s two-year run from UK authorities ended last Friday when Spanish police arrested him at Barcelona Airport.

The 54-year-old Liverpool man fled Britain in 2023 rather than face trial for reselling IPTV subscriptions through his Infinity IPTV service.

The Original IPTV Investigation

Police first discovered Brockley’s operation in November 2018 when BT Sport reported a Twitter account called @Infinity_IPTV.

The account advertised £15 monthly subscriptions promising unlimited access to movies, TV shows, and live sports content.

PIPCU officers raided Brockley’s home eight months later in July 2019. They seized his laptop, mobile phone, and £1,200 in cash. The evidence clearly linked him to the reported Twitter account.

Police charged Brockley with fraud and copyright offenses in June 2021. However, he had to wait nearly two more years before his trial date arrived – a common delay in these types of cases.

Trial in Absentia

Rather than appear in court, Brockley chose to flee the country in May 2023. Police suspected he had escaped to France, though his exact location remained unknown.

The court proceeded with his trial anyway. Prosecutors described Brockley’s IPTV business as a “pyramid selling scheme” where he sold subscriptions to lower-tier resellers.

According to PIPCU calculations, Brockley made 5,251 sales totaling £237,058 between October 2014 and May 2019. Of these transactions, 1,408 sales worth £50,479 clearly referenced IPTV services.

The court determined that BT lost an estimated £3 million in revenue due to Brockley’s activities. His absence from trial eliminated any chance of receiving a suspended sentence. The judge handed down a five-year prison term.

International Manhunt

Financial investigations revealed Brockley had been using French bank accounts. Digital forensics eventually traced him to an apartment building in Spain.

A coordinated operation involving PIPCU, the National Crime Agency, Europol, and Interpol located and arrested Brockley in Girona during August 2024.

Brockley appealed his extradition back to the UK and was released on bail. However, he repeated his pattern of non-appearance by skipping multiple Spanish court hearings.

This made him wanted in Spain as well as the UK. Last Friday, authorities arrested him at Barcelona Airport while he attempted to board a flight back to Britain.

Changing Police Narrative

A comparison of police statements from 2023 and 2025 reveals significant differences in how authorities describe Brockley’s operation.

The original 2023 statement said Brockley “made” £237,000 as an “IPTV reseller” who “sold subscriptions.”

The 2025 statement claims he “pocketed” £300,000 and “ran a subscription-based IPTV service.” Even his brand name changed from “Infinity Streams” to “aFINITY IPTV.”

These changes transform Brockley from a mid-level reseller into a major operation leader while adding £63,000 to his alleged earnings.

Final Thoughts

Brockley now begins his five-year sentence after his arrest at Heathrow Airport. His case demonstrates the serious legal risks facing those involved in illegal streaming operations, even at the reseller level.

The evolving police narrative also shows how these cases can become more serious over time, whether through new evidence or changing interpretations of the same facts.
