LaLiga Claims ‘Historic’ IPTV Takedown With Over 8 Million Users

LaLiga recently announced what it calls a “historic” anti-piracy operation in Argentina that dismantled a global IPTV network serving over 8 million paid subscribers.

The Spanish football league worked with local authorities to conduct raids across four office buildings in Vicente López, Buenos Aires.

The operation targeted dozens of illegal streaming services, including My Family Cinema, TV Express, Eppi Cinema, Weiv TV, and numerous other brands. Police seized large amounts of cash during the raids, though no arrests have been announced.

Technology Companies Named in Investigation

The crackdown implicated several technology companies as potential infrastructure providers for the illegal network. LaLiga named BitKernel, Goose, Peliplat, FatFish Media, Valoroso, and Space Place Consulting as “associated” organizations.

However, the exact nature of these companies’ involvement remains unclear. LaLiga hasn’t disclosed whether these firms knowingly participated in illegal activities or simply provided legitimate services that were misused by the IPTV operators.

After looking at a few YouTube videos from Peliplat, the office building in the background does look similar to the raid photos with its movie posters and wall panels.

Following the operation, several targeted streaming platforms went offline or entered maintenance mode.

Social media users reported widespread service disruptions across multiple IPTV brands, suggesting the infrastructure was successfully disrupted.

The affected services’ domain names don’t appear to have been seized, leaving questions about the long-term impact of the enforcement action.

Despite LaLiga president Javier Tebas calling this operation “a before and after in the fight against digital piracy,” crucial details remain missing. The absence of announced arrests for such a large-scale operation is unusual.
